UCLA Gymnast Nia Dennis Celebrates Black Excellence During Floor Routine

UCLA Gymnastics seemingly produces internet sensations each year. This year, it appears that Nia Dennis will take the crown. During her team's season-opening win against Arizona State University, Dennis shined during her floor routine. Beginning with music from Kendrick Lamar and ending with production from Dr. Dre, Dennis was able to incorporate some of her own dance choreography while performing her incredible gymnastics routine. In the end, she scored a 9.95 out of 10.

"This routine definitely reflects everything that I am today as a woman and of course I had to incorporate a lot of parts of my culture," she told the Los Angeles Daily News.

Dennis's latest routine quickly made its way around social media. Missy Elliott, Simone Biles and hundreds of others shared a video of the routine.

"Okay, Nia Dennis! Do the dam thing girl! This was so fun to watch! Keep killing it," Biles tweeted.

As mentioned previously, this is not the first time Dennis has shaken up the timeline with her gymnastic feats. Last year, a floor routine of hers also made it ways through social media. The Beyoncé inspired floor routine included hits like "Ego," "Crazy In Love" and "Lose My Breath." Much like this year's routine, her Beyoncé-inspired performance earned her a score of 9.975 out of 10. Her work even landed her a performance on The Ellen Show.

While Twitter marvels at her talents, Dennis will move forward through her senior season at UCLA. She is currently studying sociology and hopes to become a physical therapist after college. Dennis and her teammates will return to the mat on January 31 in Tuscon, Arizona when they take on the University of Arizona Wildcats.
